Francis E. Tansey, 85, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Born in Staten Island, NY to his late parents, Francis X. and Virginia Tansey, he served in United States Army from 1955 to 1958, then served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. Francis was a Firefighter who worked for 10 years in various firehouses in Brooklyn, NY and was part of the FDNY’s Marine Division where he spent 12 years on the fire boats; eventually retiring as Chief Marine Engineer. Upon retirement, he worked as a Fire Safety director in high rise buildings in Manhattan, including the south tower of the World Trade Center.
Francis was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Beach Haven Council and a member of the American Legion Post 232 in Barnegat.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marie; loving son, Francis, Jr. and his wife, Barbra Tansey; cherished grandson, Patrick and two nephews, Gary Tirone (Lori-Ann) and Douglas Tirone.
He is predeceased by two sisters, Mary Ann Tirone and Barbara Kennish.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 3 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.
